Sustainable Atlanta Rolls Out the Green Carpet

When I wrote last month about “Book Signing Burnout” I mentioned there was one exception to the rule: Atlanta. That’s because my genius PR friend Amanda Leesburg knows how to pull out all the stops and make it seem like I am somebody! I’m talking about someone to take selfies with and having my own hashtag.

I decided to take it up a notch and cash in all my saved up miles for a First Class flight. Champagne! Cookies! Leg Room!

Alas, my trip to Atlanta started out with a bust:

Oh, this plane was broken TOO and 90 minutes delayed.

My mood improved real fast when I arrived at my suite in The AC Hotel in Buckhead, now genuinely my favorite hotel in the world.

Honestly, they would have had me at recycling bins in the hotel rooms, something I’ve been unsuccessfully seeking for almost 40 years.

This new Marriott brand offers me everything I love about a design-driven boutique hotel without any of the cleanliness or consistency concerns I’ve found at other hotels – where “unique” often means stained carpets or neon blue lights. They seriously up sustainability clout with energy-efficient View Dynamic Glass, motion detect lighting, and the chicest hotel breakfast I’ve ever seen.

My first event was a blogger party at EcoHome Atlanta, a curated haven of beautiful organic and sustainable products. I got to preach about voting with your wallet and supporting better brands in a true sustainable chic mecca.

In the evening we threw a party at Sally B’s Skin Yummies, where I got to actually see how all this luxurious and truly organic skin care and cosmetics are made!

I met so many awesome people and got to feel like an absolute rock star. Thank you, Atlanta!
